Care, Share, Give a Pair
One chilly Thanksgiving Day, then 4 year old Hannah was helping her mother serve dinner at the Cherry Street Mission. Hannah tugged on her mommy’s sweater and asked “Mommy won’t his feet be cold?” Hannah nodded toward a man whose shoes had split open to reveal he wore no socks. Her mom replied, “His shoes will keep his toes warm.” Hannah, too smart, with too big of a heart was unconvinced. She said, “Mommy, he can have my socks.” The next day, Hannah’s mom took her to purchase and distribute socks to local shelters. Her mom wondered ,” If just two people can make an impact, imagine the difference hundreds or thousands of people can make each donating a single pair of socks.” So the non-profit, Hannah’s Socks was started.
St. Joseph will sponsor a collection for Hannah’s Socks, starting the weekend of October 29/30 through November 5/6. There will be collection boxes at the doors of church and outside of both the West and East school offices. The socks can be for men, women and children, any size. Thank you in advance for your generosity. If you have any questions, you can call, Laurie, parish nurse, at 419-885-5791.
