Right to Read Week Guest Speaker

Right to Read week is coming up soon and this year we will be welcoming illustrator, Richard Cowdrey.  He will be speaking to our students on Wednesday, March 2, 2016.

Richard Cowdrey is well known for illustrating many beautiful children’s picture books, including the New York Times #1 bestseller “Bad Dog, Marley!” Over the past twenty five years he has worked with most of the top publishers: Harper Collins, Scholastic Inc., Simon & Schuster, Zondervan, Random House, Harcourt, McMillan McGraw Hill, Bantam Books, Grosset & Dunlap, Penguin Publishing, Workman Publishing, and Harvest House.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Cowdrey graduated from The Columbus College of Art and Design in 1981. He has since been a freelance illustrator working with many distinguished clients, including: Chase Manhattan Bank, National Football League, National Hockey League, World Wildlife Federation, Honda Inc., Ducks Unlimited, American Kennel Club, Kimberley Clark, Longaberger, Mead Papers, Wendy’s International, Weyerhaeuser, Focus on the Family, and many more.

Richard’s love for family and nature overflows into his illustrations which are enjoyed by children around the world. The artist lives in Ohio with his wife and has four grown children and five grandchildren. When not painting in his studio, Richard enjoys visiting schools to share with children his love of illustration.

We have a wonderful opportunity to purchase some of his illustrated books when he visits.  He will then autograph them while he is here.  If you are interested in buying one or more of his books please fill out the order form attached.  All books are hard covers.  You can check out his website at:  www.rcowdrey.com

You can preview his books on Amazon.com and you will notice he is offering his books at a discounted price just for St. Joseph School.

Please make checks payable to: Richard Cowdrey and return the order form by February, 10.  We can only do pre-sales and no extra books will be available on the day of his visit.  We are all excited to meet him and sketch along with him.  More information will be coming home regarding Right to Read week activities but please get these order forms in by February, 10.

Looking forward to a great Right to Read Week!
